Funds to Provide College Scholarships and Support Program Development

The Cumberland County Technical Education Center Board and Education and Foundation are proud to announce the donation of $1 million from The John F. Scarpa Foundation. In recognition of the gift, the school has been renamed The John F. Scarpa Technical Education Center of Cumberland County. The renaming of the school will take place over the next 60 to 90 days.

This generous gift will directly benefit our students in several ways by:

  • Providing college scholarships for ongoing educational opportunities for qualified youths to develop skills to better themselves and the community in which they live.

  • Supplying ongoing support for the expansion of our educational programs.

  • Providing our school and students with the recognition and respect for their many accomplishments on behalf of the region.

  • Encouraging others in Cumberland County to support our school by creating a Development Plan to raise several millions of dollars for scholarships in coordination with the Cumberland County Technical Education Center Board Foundation Board by offering premium naming opportunities throughout the facility.

“We are thrilled and honored by Mr. Scarpa's generous donation,” said Daniel G. Vivarelli Sr., Board President of the Cumberland County Board of Vocational Education. “Having a benefactor like Mr. Scarpa will enable countless students from Cumberland County to pursue and achieve their dreams and enable CCTEC to provide Specialized Studies for Tomorrow's World.”

“The leaders of Cumberland County along with the Cumberland County Board of Vocational Education and its Foundation Board have placed a tremendous opportunity and challenge in front of this community,” said John F. Scarpa, Vineland native and founder of the Scarpa Foundation. “With the completion of CCTEC, Cumberland County has an exciting new educational option beyond anything seen in the region. This donation helps to make the most of this opportunity.”

“Businesses in Cumberland County need a skilled and educated workforce,” said Joseph Derella, Cumberland County Freeholder Director. “The completion of CCTEC was a huge step in preparing our students to meet the demand. And Mr. Scarpa's donation now gives us much more power to help our youth succeed so they can come back and grow Cumberland County.”
